With so many extra people on the streets in the city centre during LUMIERE, it's inevitable that there will be some disruption to normal life.
If you are a local resident or a regular visitor to Durham, you'll probably see lots of activity from 10 November onwards as our technical and production teams begin to install the artworks all over the city centre, and there will be some traffic diversions after 7pm between 10 and 16 November.
During the Festival itself there will be no vehicle access to
the city centre between 5pm and midnight; this closure will affect
Framwelgate Bridge, Silver Street, the Bailey, Elvet Bridge,
Saddler Street and Fowlers Yard. Prebends Bridge, of course,
remains closed to traffic.
There will be a public meeting next week to give you the
opportunity to ask any questions you may have in
person.
The meeting will take place at the Town Hall on Wednesday
2nd November at 6pm. Please join us to discuss any
concerns or details of these arrangements.
