Work in Progress
Bureau of Silly Ideas
6pm – 10.30pm | Fowler’s Yard
Roger Hartley’s Bureau of Silly Ideas specialises in the quirky, the eccentric and the downright daft, from wheelie-bins that chase passers-by to a talking, walking, singing portaloo. Their installation for Durham, first seen in Brixton in 2008, will transform a dark and quiet corner of the city, and bring a smile to the face of everyone who sees it…

BOSi was formed in 2003 by Roger Hartley and Claire Horan. They aim to develop work that allows people to engage with their environments. Their shows include an elaborate story involving a giant squid farm for the Brighton Fringe Festival, The High Job – which involved three aerealists changing a light bulb – and The Hole Job – a farcical show where roadworkers dance and launch traffic cones into the air. They are also the creators of the Pedal Powered Pineapple Ride. They are currently campaigning for pie throwing to be an official sport at the 2012 Olympic Games.
