I find it impossible to print off a complete map of all events.  You really need to look at these individual maps and provide a grand plan for visitors to take with them.

PLEASE can the volume of the unpleasant, discordant sounds used in the installation in the botanic gardens be reduced?  I can hear it in my bedroom at such a level as to drown out any music or radio I try to play to block it out and it is incredibly irritating!

Just seen a run through at the Cathedral - absolutely breathtaking.  You really don’t want to miss this!

Kate | 11 November 2009 | Durham

Can’t wait for this - it was wonderful last year when Durham was absolutely transformed! - should be even better this time.

Why have you not prepared a decent downloadable map for the city events ?

To read the your recent e-mail “From the Fourth Plinth to Northern Lights ” provided a lovely link for me and my hour on The Plinth on the 22nd September.I dedicated my hour to the memory of my son Mark.
Mark aged 22 was killed in a road traffic accident in June 2008 two days before he was due to graduate from Durham University with a 1st Class Master Degree in Electronic Engineering . He would have been starting work in London where he had secured a job with Seimens as a graduate broadcast project trainee in media systems working with the BBC.
He was a student at Tevelyan college in Durham and a new sound suit at the college is to be named the Mark Ashton Sound Suit in his memory. He was the sound and lighting techie. for the colledge and the Botanic Garden was always a very specila place for him . My husband and i would have loved to have attended Power Plant but unfortunatly we are in Scotland this weekend .

Louise, Marie & Elizabeth - there is now a downloadable PDF version of the guide on the ‘Media’ page. Hope that helps!

Forgot to say - most installations will be lit 6pm to 11pm.  The exceptions are the events at the Cathedral, which run 6.30pm - 10.30pm (with last admission to the Cathedral and Cloisters at 10.15pm), and Power Plant at the Botanic Garden, which runs 6pm to 9pm (last admission at 8pm).

Just to answer your queries…  There’s a complete online guide to the festival on this site - click on the ‘Guide’ button in the top navigation for details of all the events.  Otherwise, the printed guide (and a free torch, courtesy of our partner Sky Arts) is available from Wednesday 11th November from the Clayport Library and the TIC in Millennium Place, and from Tesco in the Market Place from 4pm.  We are working on putting a downloadable version of the guide on the site too.

Enjoy the festival!

We are coming from newcastle with children , can you please advise us of start times

louise | 10 November 2009 | newcastle

I can’t seem to see a full programme of events on here.  We have friends coming through from Newcastle with children - it would be useful to know what is on and when so that we don’t miss anything.
Thanks.

Hi

My sister and I will be visiting the festival this weekend. Any chance you can add a downloadable pdf of the map so that I can print it off so we can find our way around the trail? The current online guide is very attractive but no use to me when I’m not at my pc.

Many thanks
