Women’s hour and digital vans
Posted on 9th November 2009 by Holly Race
Ever since its launch a few months ago Lumiere's been getting a huge variety of press, and I thought I'd kick off the blog with a summary of the best:
- Culture24 was the first to cover the story.
- Then the BBC News jumped on board.
- Next, there was a spate of local papers, including the Northern Echo and the Durham Times.
- More recently, the national papers have covered us: the Times, the Independent and the Guardian amongst them.
Then, yesterday morning, BBC Radio 4 invited our producers Helen Marriage and Nicky Webb to talk about putting on big arts events: you can listen to them by clicking here.
One of the aims of Lumiere is to 'put Durham on the map': as a tourist destination; as a cultural capital; and as a beautiful city. While the residents of Durham and the surrounding area may know this already, perhaps the rest of the UK hasn't cottoned on yet. Do you think Lumiere can do this?
Ah, and news just in: the wonderful company who created this website have been hard at work designing a slideshow that will be broadcast on digital vans during the festival. You can get a sneak preview of the slideshow by clicking here, then let us know your thoughts by adding a comment on the right.
And keep checking back here: I'll be updating the blog daily with artist interviews, tips on how to put on your own festival, and some of the inside news on the trials and tribulations of producing Lumiere.
